I live in Wyoming a few hours from one of World's largest Coal strip-mines. I've always been interested in those giant 200 ton coal trucks they use, and I'm having a hell of a time finding any info about how one becomes an operator.

Is it as simple as going to one of these mining companies and getting trained or do you have to go through a mining/Heavy Equipment School of some sort?
