Want to switch careers from finance to sales? What steps do I take?

I have some retail sales experience (Shoes and Golf equipment) and about 10 years of corporate finance experience, want to jump over into b2b sales full-time. I have burned out on corporate america in terms of finance.
Any companies (headhunters/recruiters) that help in this type of career change? Most sales headhunters only want to talk to you if you have tons of experience.

Most companies do want experience but it is possible to find a B2B sales job with limited experience. I'd check out salesguy.org, which publishes lists of top hiring criteria (for crafting resume), necessary sales traits, a good newsletter, etc. As for where to look, I'd go to sellingpower.com, which publishes a list of sales organizations with the best training programs (I'd target these companies). I'd also buy 25 Habits of Successful Sales People, which will give you Sales 101 info. And I'd register for the Millerheiman.com newsletter, which will send you some good tips and research.

The biggest thing with both finding a sales job and selling successfully is resilience — don' let a rejection or two allow you to lose focus.
