PULLING TRAILER! Is this safe (Pics)?
Posted on Mar 18, 2010 under heavy Equipment Trailers | 7 CommentsHi! I have a 92 Dodge Dakota, V6 3.9 Magnum with a 4 speed auto trans with overdrive.
I am thinking about pulling 6X16 landscape trailer with a double axle (pictured below) with 2,000 lbs of landscape equipment. 3500 lbs approximate gross trailer weight.
Will this be safe? Will the trailer be too heavy for the truck?
I currently pull a 5×10 landscape trailer with a gross weight of approximately 1700lbs and its somewhat heavy for the truck.
Will I F*ck up the truck pulling such heavy load? In the owner’s manual, it said the max trailer pulling capacity for this particular vehicle is 8,200 lbs..
The truck CAN pull it if i press the peddle down hard enough.. But my biggest fear jackknifing the trailer if I press the brakes because its a light truck.. Or the truck will have a hard time stopping when the trailer gets going.. Any advice is strongly appreciated!
God bless America!

OK, I know I’m sometimes out spoken, but having owned and driven pick-up trucks (mostly pulling boats, I’ve found that A Van is a better tow vehicle. I think it’s power/weight distribution, Wheel base length etc. Having said that, If your in business, and hauling landscape equipment, you need to carry a crew to operate it…….so, I think a van is better than a pick-up. I also think your Dakota is borderline for this weight size trailer. As I’ve said before I have a ton of miles pulling boats, sometimes big boats with a Dodge Van. You need to be mind-full of the load at all times. thankfully when I did have problems it worked out OK, but it’s better to have a bigger tow vehicle.

It’s the 80’s. There are two abused kids (15 yrs old), and they run away. "They" don’t intend to. Sid has a bicycle trailer, and the other, his friend Tim, covers himself up with all the stuff while the first one is not there. The camera doesn’t show this, the audience doesn’t know. Sid rides the bike away, loaded with his stuff, and comments "Wow, this is heavier than normal."
He gets to his hideout, some little shanty out in the sticks, and he is sitting down, taking a rest, when he notices the bags move. He is wearing a machete on his hip, to cut brush with at the shanty, and he pulls it out and sneaks over to the trailer. He smacks the bags aside, and draws back, and Tim is there. So they have an argument, then Sid decides to let Tim stay. They end up traveling around the state, having various run-in’s with the law. It turns out only Tim has been reported, and Sid has not. The law is cracking down hard on Tim, and when they’re in the park, Sid is in the trees, but Tim is spotted by the cops. He rides away, and the camera shows a sign that says something about a cliff ahead. We hear a scream, then the camera fades.
It opens at a church, during his funeral. The preacher says something about the body not being found, and then the camera cuts to the hideout. Tim and Sid are there, and Sid is wondering how he did it. He tells how he jumped off his bike, threw some fake blood down the cliff, then ducked out of sight before the cops saw him (80’s were a pioneering time for DNA and stuff). The cops sent out a search party, but it came up empty, assuming the coyotes dragged the body off.
This is a VERY basic outline of it, but would it be a good movie? If there’s a movie maker out there interested in making it, I could send more info by email. I don’t have the funds or equipment to undertake such a task, so I can’t easily do it myself. I just ask to know the title of the film, and perhaps have it sent to me before it’s on the shelves?
I’m not a movie maker, sorry. I doubt any would be on here. Yeah it sounds like a good story and all. But you need an ending. Sort of. That could work, but it’s not really a real conclusion. And when thinking about this movie in more detail, make sure the tone of the movie stays the same and the targeted audience stays the same throughout the movie. But good work, it sounds interesting. If I read this plot about a movie coming out I would see it. Godspeed.

Does biking through different countries make you an "immigration expert"?
Posted on Feb 18, 2010 under heavy Equipment Trailers | 4 CommentsHow many unqualified people like Forsty Wooldridge are out there putting out reports on immigration and claiming they are "experts"?
FROSTY WOOLDRIDGE:
The author of hundreds of opinion columns, Frosty Wooldridge believes he knows a thing or two about immigration. It’s not a pretty picture he paints.
An Army veteran, Wooldridge claims to have written articles for 18 magazines, along with "hundreds" of editorials in major American newspapers. He says he bicycled 100,000 miles through six continents over the course of 25 years. He has taught math and science and has been a tractor-trailer driver, bartender, dance teacher, ski instructor, Heavy Equipment trainer, cardiac catheterization technician, personal trainer and lifestyle coach. He has appeared on scores of television and radio shows. But what he does not have is any background in immigration.
