What is classed as Heavy Equipment ? Well generally speaking equipment that normally falls into this category are the following types of equipment, forklifts, bulldozer, cranes, excavators, backhoe loaders,motor graders dump trucks etc. Also things like articulated trucks, wheel and track tractors and scrapers are included under the heading of Heavy Equipment.
If you look at magazines from manufacturers such as Case, Komatsu, or Caterpillar, you will see the sort of equipment we are talking about.
Due to the rapid expansion of China and India the demand for heavy equipment to assist in their construction projects has grown rapidly over the past 5 years. however due to current economic conditions that growth has now fallen dramatically.
Depending on the size of the construction project many companys will rent the machinery they need instead of buying. Also some of the larger manufacturers offer the opportunity to lease their heavy equipment.
Over the past few years heavy equipment has got bigger stronger and faster, for example Caterpillar talks about, more powerful engines with a faster rise in torque which allows machines to respond faster to increased power demands. Even though this new generation is far more powerful, it has a reduced impact on the environment as well.
A lot of the more recent machines have electronic control systems that will optimize both engine and transmission performance, as well as fuel consumption and hydraulic system performance.
For example some wheel loaders feature electronically controlled powershift transmissions. Each and every transmission offers autoshift capabilities that ease the pressure on the operator, and an electronic clutch pressure control that smooth shifts the gears for longer life.
Manufacturers are making their heavy equipment with better comfort, reduced noise and vibration which benefits the operators. The new control systems will require low operator effort while also improving the control of the machine for both the experienced as well as the in-experienced operator.
Nearly all new machinery offers electronic monitoring systems that will provide constant information on the health of the machine for the operator. These types of systems provide information to technicians, including service modes that will help them to diagnose conditions quickly.
The more modern machines make routine maintenance easier. For example some wheel loaders, have regular service points that offer easy to access from ground level, with site gauges making it easier to check the fluid of the radiator, hydraulic oil, and transmission - without having to use dipsticks. These electronics features make the life of an operator easier than ever
Technology is always improving and generally that means the capability of Heavy Equipment is always improving. It is getting easier to operate, amd the safety features are much improved.

There are several options that a person might take when needing to move his or her office equipment. For some people it can be no big deal. He or she has easy to move equipment and does so by his or herself. Other times people need to move an entire office full of equipment. It is then that a person needs to decide whether to have one’s employees take care of the move or to hire a company that can take charge of moving.
People who have home offices or other types of small offices with easy to move equipment may choose to move it his or herself. Moving office equipment is not always a big ordeal. For some people it may be a simple matter of from the basement to the second floor of one’s own house. For other people, one’s business may be paperless. One may still have a desk and chairs and the like but it is nothing too big. There are many people who need no help whatsoever when moving office equipment. There are other people though that might need help but it is nothing having a few volunteers would not solve. Not everyone can move a heavy filing cabinet or a big couch by his or herself. However most things in an office can be moved by a few people working together.
Small companies do not often have the time or the money to undertake moving office equipment with a professional team of movers. It falls upon the employees to move whatever is possible. Again this can be no big deal. If the company mostly deals with computers, then the employees would have no problem packing up and shipping out. Again anything that may take a few people to move, can usually just be moved with a little teamwork. The move may be even more simplified if it is a matter of moving within the same building. Oftentimes companies decide to move from a place they are renting to a new place in the same building because the rent is cheaper. This happens all the time in malls. Also most shops in malls are not moving office equipment that is all that heavy or complicated.
Most of the time moving office equipment is easy. Sometimes however one needs the help of professional movers to help move an office. Some offices are full of large equipment. Private practices for instance often have all sorts of large equipment. Also some offices need to have things like printing presses or hairstyling chairs. All of these things require professional movers. Maybe it is because a people cannot lift these things by themselves. Other times moving office equipment that is so large can be impossible without professional vehicles.

My son is in the service and he is in Japan right now. He has been operating cranes and other Heavy Equipment. He would like to know how to contact the union because he is interested in joining when he gets out of the service.
We don’t really have unions in Texas (thank God!)
If he’s interested in working in the Amarillo area, he should Google heavy construction companies in the area to find out where to apply.

I really want to teach myself how to work on heavy construction equipment. Diesel engines, hydraulics etc. What is the best machine to start out on?
A push mower because it is simple and you will learn the basics. These principles will apply to all engines. Then move on from there. I am not being sarcastic I am being realistic. Almost all internal combustion engines work the same except two versus four stroke. If you already have the basics down dive right in, if not learn the basics then dive into whatever you feel like fixing. Experience is a great teacher. You can’t learn until you try.
